TF Sport launch a two car GT3 challenge in 2018 after announcing Derek Johnston and Mark Farmer will remain with the team for their fourth and third seasons after claiming third and fourth in the 2017 drivers championship. Both drivers will be running the latest iteration of the Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3. The Pro drivers are yet to be announced at this stage.
Johnston has won in each of his last three championships alongside winning the 2016 Drivers title alongside Aston Martin factory driver Jonny Adam. The duo got two wins this year including the final race of the season at Donington Park. At this stage, it is unclear on Jonny Adams availability due to factory commitments with the British firm. AMR have however emphasised their commitment to supporting partner teams such as TF Sport with Aston Martin works drivers.
Despite going without a win in 2017, Mark Farmer had his best season to date in British GT, taking four podiums in 10 races on his way to fourth in the championship.
“We really smashed it at the end of the year – those final two rounds – so I really want to keep the momentum rolling into next year,” said Farmer. “TF are a top team and I want to change as few parameters as possible and I think that I’m driving better than ever.
We didn’t get a win this year but overall it was an excellent season with four podiums and more importantly we were always up there demonstrating that we were competitive. Now I’m looking forward to round one and the season ahead.”
TF Sport director Tom Ferrier added: “It’s great to have them both commit so early for next season. We've worked together with considerable success for a number of years now, so I’m really happy to confirm our two-car presence in this especially strong championship.”
