It was an anti-climatic finish to the weekend at Oulton Park as Race 2 of the British GT Championship was red flagged and abandoned due to heavy rain fall. The cars were on track for 10 minutes, completing four laps under the safety car before the race stewards red flagged the race and brought the pack to a stop on the start finish line. The stewards gave the weather 20 minutes but with no improvement in sight, the decision was made to abandon the race.
Jonny Adam was an early casualty, aquaplaning on the formation lap and slamming into the crash barrier. He managed to get the car back to the garage for some repairs and rejoined the pack as the red flag was called.
With the race abandoned, Flick Haigh and Jonny Adam currently lead the championship, however, the Race Director has referred an official decision as to whether championship points will or will not be awarded for Race 2. The final decision could take a number of days.
We will keep you posted.
